Clapton Home

Architecture | 26 Aug 2016

The owners of Clapton Home, in London, lived for several years in this apartment until they finally decide to renew it. The original house had an old glass greenhouse that blocked the entry of light into the living room and made it very cold in the winter and too hot in the summer. The idea behind this project was to take the glass structure, building an extension to the main house that respected the original architecture of the building and offered a modern touch to the classic Victorian home. The result is a glazed timber clad extension that houses the kitchen and dining room, with a privileged view of the garden. The original back wall of the house remained intact with its windows and doors open, creating an internal balcony.
The project was developed by the London firm Scenario Architecture.
