A SOPHISTICATED AND TIMELESS OFFICE

Corrs Chambers Westgarth’s law firm occupies five floors of a building in Melbourne, Australia. The architects from Bates Smart Architecture and Electrolight’s lighting designers took charge of the project to the space between the 22th and 26th floors.
On the twentieth fifth floor one can find the reception, with high ceiling, in which the staircase is the main element that rises through the “void”, and makes the connection with the dining area in the upper level, more casual, with a classic yet contemporary style.
Electrolight’s aim was to provide a sophisticated and contemporary aesthetics. For example, the staircase, in the reception, are flanked by LEDs, that highlight the structure and the circulation space below; or the pendants placed on the dining area. There was an intense coordination between the architectural studio and the lighting designers so that their work was complementary.
