Few are the times we have the opportunity to know how beats inside a heart of a brand that influenced, and continues to influence, generations. And when we say “know inside” we say it in the true sense of the expression. The store, creative and commercial departments, testing laboratory, factory, storage, logistics, and training zone. Invited by Astratec, Louis Poulsen’s agent in Portugal, we flew to Copenhagen and we dived into the essence of a brand which is a global reference in design and production of architectural and decorative lighting.
At the headquarters and shop in Copenhagen, or the factory in Vejen, almost 250 km away, Anders Jensen, Export Manager to Europe, lead us through Louis Poulsen’s 143 years old path, and showed us how the brand has found a brilliant way to reinvent itself. Here, every detail has a purpose and the products are made to reflect and embrace the rhythm of natural light.
The successful partnerships with architects, designers and other talents, such as Poul Henningsen, Arne Jacobsen, Verner Panton, Øivind Slaatto, Alfred Homann, Oki Sato or Louise Campbell, just to name a few, are part of Louis Poulsen’s DNA, that each year produces about 242,000 products, on a total of 57 families.
