NEW URBAN SIGNS

Australian artist Michael Pederson invades Sydney’s everyday environment with his humorous artistic interventions, revealed as fun and unusual warnings. With the city setting as a backdrop, Michael uses phrases attached to small objects, plaques, signs, diverse fonts, elements found in the streets, thus revealing the city’s subtexts. Extravagant, surreal and slightly cautionary, the street art of Michael Pederson is strategically camouflaged into the surroundings – you have to un-focus and then refocus to bring the objects into the visible spectrum, in a process of discovering the urban surroundings, often invisible to anyone passing by each day.
