THE LAMP THAT TAKES US TO THE MOON
Moon was the inspiration for the product designer Oscar Lhermitte and Kudu studio to create a lamp that works just like the phases of the moon – MOON. The project involves the use of the latest data from NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter combined with advanced electronic and mechanical engineering alongside careful craftsmanship in mold making.
MOON has three modes of operation:
Manual: allowing you to rotate the sun, setting the lunar phase that you would like to see;
Demo: letting you observe a synodic month in just 30 seconds;
Live: synchronising itself with the current position of the real moon. If you stay in this mode you can see the globe changing phases in line with the actual moon in the sky.
MOON is currently a Kickstarter, already far exceeding the designer’s pledge goals, but still accepting project support until May 13th.
