ROOM WITH A VIEW
There is a place where imagination lives without restriction, where the limits of space serve solely as a reference point for the maturity and development of the creative process. This place has been outlined in old Amsterdam, in the heart of the historic centre, in Dam Square. The Room on the Roof is the name of a refuge, which invites national and international artists to develop their work in the studio, in artistic residence, in areas that range from performance, poetry, product design and lighting design to dance, music, film or photography. The concept of The Roof on the Roof originates in de Bijenkorf, a chain of premium department stores, in partnership with the Rijksmuseum, and it was not by chance that the top of an historic building was chosen, on which to install the project. There is a buzz of energy that can be felt at every turn of these streets of Amsterdam, and this atmosphere is propagated on a grand scale in various creative interventions that take place in the neighbourhood.
