WHEN THE CLASSIC TURNS CONTEMPORARY
The artist Bertjan Pot has designed a custom fabric in three jacquard versions for the Utrecht armchair. The Bertjan Pot’s collection offers a contemporary look to this icon designed by Gerrit T. Rietveld in 1935. The architecture of the armchair is reflected in the original workmanship of the Boxblocks textile, made from eight coloured threads which are combined in pairs to create 19 different colours for each model. Each BoxBlocks fabric fits 90 limited edition of upholstery, for a total of 270 models, to guarantee Cassina authenticity. Performed by an advanced computer that controls the weaving machine, the result is an original geometric pattern, perfectly balanced, in which the triangle combinations are never repeated.
The Utrecht armchair was exclusively produced by Cassina since 1988.
