Volkswagen I.D. Buzz

Tech | 19 Jan 2017

Volkswagen reinvented its iconic van, adapted to the future. With electric motors on both front and rear axles, the I.D. Buzz has all-wheel drive, promises zero pollutants emission and a range of 600 km. It is a spacious car, with eight seats and place for equipment such as bicycles and boards. Volkswagen has as ambition “bringing electric mobility for all into the world of tomorrow”. It is expected that the family model will be launched in 2020, affordable for “millions, not just to millionaires”.
Herbert Diess, Chairman of the Volkswagen Brand Board of Management, explains that “I. D. Buzz stands for the new Volkswagen: modern, positive, emotional, future-orientated”. And the future is also on the fully automated driving mode, the I. D. Pilot (featured for 2025), and on the quick recharging: charging at 150 kW, it takes about half an hour to get to 80%.
In addition, the main driving controls are on the steering wheel, on “a kind of touchpad”, the driver sees the main information projected on the road through a “augmented reality” and the driver’s seat can be turned around.
